Our mission
Cases of interpersonal violence, abuse, and exploitation in sport have created an urgent need for better protection and support for those affected. To help meet this need, FIFA and the FIFA Foundation took a leadership role in establishing YourSide — an independent, specialised, and trauma-informed support service.
A Safe Football Support Unit, namely YourSide, was created in December 2024 under the auspices of the FIFA Foundation as a pioneering initiative offering real-time guidance and expert support to victims, survivors, and whistleblowers seeking support in cases of interpersonal violence in football. It operates within the framework of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the FIFA Code of Ethics, and applicable legal requirements — but remains fully independent in its operations.
Our mission is clear
- Provide impartial, specialist support to survivors, victims, and whistleblowers.
- Monitor and assess reports of violence and abuse in football in real time.
- Offer trauma informed training and services to disciplinary and ethics bodies within the football ecosystem.
Who we support
YourSide is available to any individual, at any age, in any country, participating at any level of football organized by FIFA, a FIFA member association, or a confederation, where the case involves football officials and falls under the FIFA Code of Ethics. If your case falls outside the scope of the FIFA Code of Ethics, YourSide may assist you in referring it to the competent authority, with your consent or on your behalf.
Our independence matters
Our confidential support services and case management are completely independent of FIFA, the FIFA Foundation, and any other organisation or entity. We do not conduct investigations or issue sanctions. Instead, we offer you expert support from the outset, and should you decide to do so, we can help you to navigate the football judicial process, and / or — with your consent — assist you in referring your case to the appropriate authority.
